Prof. Vera Margoniner from Sacramento State University visited our school to give a presentation about how she decided to become an astronomer and her recent projects, and answer students' questions.

Congratulations to PTS International Club students on their success on the International Language and Performing Arts Contest. Our 8th grade student, Samantha Gerald, won the 1st place award in the singing category and our folk dance group won the 2nd place award in the contest.

We are excited to participate in the Accelerated Reader literacy program! Our students already read during our daily SSR time and this program helps them set goals, read appropriately challenging books, and track their progress. Congratulations to Aravind Chinthada and Isaac Raval on their success in the International 3E Sustainable Future Challenge. Aravind Chinthada has been selected as a semi-finalist among 798 projects, and Isaac Raval won an honorable mention award in the challenge.
MATHCOUNTS Sacramento Valley Chapter Competition was held on Saturday, February 11, 2012, at Casa Roble High School. 68 students from 11 schools in the Sacramento Area participated in the Sacramento Valley Chapter Competition. They consisted of 14 sixth graders, 28 seventh graders, and 26 eight graders.
On Wednesday, February 29th at 6pm in Room 5, our college counseling department hosted a College Night for all 8th and 9th grade parents. Parents were provided with the detailed information about high school graduation requirements, post secondary options and PTS high school offers.
Some of our Art Club students recently participated in an art show hosted by the Orangevale Community Center. The art show was free to all and featured live music, dance performances and interactive creation stations. Approximately 350 visitors voted for their favorite works of Art for each
